ZS: If you were a character from the friends who would you be?
[00:00:09.26]
YM: If I was a character from the friends I think I would be Chandler because let's face it we're both pretty funny and uh we make a lot of jokes. I personally know that i joke 24/7 and I can't take anything seriously. Not to mention both of our parents are divorced so we share that in common and uh
[00:00:37.09]
ZS: Okay but the question is do you really see yourself marrying Monica?
[00:00:41.13]
YM: No
[00:00:43.04]
ZS: She's a crazy person
[00:00:44.19]
YM: No I do not see myself marrying some like Monica, she is a little she's way too controlling for my taste uhmm
[00:00:52.16]
(non dialogue noise)
[00:00:55.04]
YM: I don't see myself ending up with someone like Monica I don't know about that but, I personally don't see myself marrying any of those people on friends because they're just
[00:01:07.11]
(laughter)
[00:01:09.09]
ZS: Really, why don't you like Phoebe or I see I think okay this has nothing to do with me, this isn't about me. But like Phoebe, why don't you uh identify with any of the female characters on the show?
[00:01:28.06]
YM: First of all, I don't identify very much with the female characters on the show because first of all they're all very out there and experienced individuals. I cannot say I have any dating experiences
[00:01:41.19]
ZS: Well remember they're like 40 years old so

YM: When I think back into my childhood the story that I envisioned myself for the future is definitely not the story I have now. uhmm thinking back I ...always I always had the smallest idea of wanting to be an artist or musician of some sort but my mom always kind of put those ideas to the side she said you know "you want to be an artist, what are you a clown." or something like you know like that and uhm it was kind of the main idea for me was to become a doctor because that's what she wanted. Uhmm and for the longest time I did want to be a veterinarian but then as time went on I just didn't you know like what I was doing and I came to college. First two years of college were just two very unhappy years just a lot of studying for premed you know, lots of crying especially my first semester, failing my chemistry exams. I'm just like ma I don't know what to do, I'm just failing and she's trying to comfort me but secretly disappointed like uh "why isn't my daughter good in chemistry you know. And uhm so then the summer of my sophomore year I was just you know thinking of what I should do with you know the rest of my college career and I was just hopping from one career idea to the next and it was just nonsensical and I had no idea where I was going and uhmm then the beginning of my junior semester in the fall, I ...I was going to be taking biology 2 and physics and I went to my advisor i just dropped those two classes while sitting in my advising appointment and I just took a bunch of media classes and I do not regret you know doing what I'm doing now and it's just like such a relief especially since from going pre med and it's just like what am I doing here with all these people and just depressed and disappointed and not to mention my mom is pretty disappointed now. I remember two weeks ago I went to party city with her, off topic, but I told her I'm like ma are you disappointed in me? and guess what there was no answer and I am just like you know what I kinda get the idea. Pretty sure you're not happy with what I'm doing now but whatever, I like what i'm doing and that's all the matters and uh so yeah I... my story is a lot different but I really don't regret it.

ZS: Are both of your parents doctors
[00:00:05.09]
YM: Both of my parents are not doctors, they are pharmacists which is pretty close, i tink they're doing the same thing working in hospitals you know ummm my mom is she is more so of the focus on your career kind of you shouldn't be having too much fun kind of a person she's you know she's not the fun parent you could say because she's always like trying to convince me.. she's always convincing me to do all these medical things, volunteering you know she gets me to do clinical research. My dad on the other hand, is much more kind of supportive parental figure even though he doesn't have to do any of the work. So he's like the fun parent, he was always very supportive of everything I decided to do and uhm I'm really grateful for that not to say I'm not grateful for what my mom does she's my mom but you know little support wouldn't hurt so yeah that's all.

[00:00:03.05]
YM: I do have siblings I have 1 older brother he's five years older than me. He is actually in medical school in Granadum not by his choice but by my mothers choice. So he is currently studying there and he is not really enjoying himself but he likes not living at home which sucks. But uhm I have a younger half sister and she, She's a handful, she's just crazy. Every morning at 7 AM I just hear "please leave me alone, I don't want to go to school." and it's just the same thing...
[00:00:42.11]
ZS: How old is she ?
[00:00:43.03]
YM: It's the same thing every morning. She is eight years old so makes more sense when I give you the age yeah. But she's a very spoiled little girl that's mean I'm not saying I'm not spoiled yeah my parents get me stuff but not to the extent my little sister gets everything she wants because she's my step dad's little girl. So I mean what can you expect, but yeah and I have an older haLf sister who lives in Russia. But we don't talk that much but I know she's gonna be a psychologist so yeah those are my siblings. Oh not to forget my dog, my dog is my younger brother sibling. I have to mention him because how could I not and his name is Bruno. Maybe I shouldn't give the names

[00:01:54.12]
ZS: So are you happy that you're pursuing media and your passion instead of your mother's passion and what she envisioned for you?
[00:02:02.01]
YM: I am very happy that I' pursuing media because I dread the idea of becoming a doctor. I used to like the whole I 'm getting a shot today, I'm getting a lollipop or whatever but like now I'm just like give me the shot give me the lollipop I wanna go home. Mom get me out of here, i don't want to be here anymore. And the reason why I really don't want to be a doctor anymore is I had this one experience freshmen year I donated blood and I fainted. And it was just the worst blood donation I've ever experienced and I'm really nervous about doing it again. Because those cookies did not help and that apple juice no just did not work for me at all. So I don't care what people tell you, apple juice and cookies are not the secret to not fainting after donating blood, just you know for future reference. But yeah I am really glad I'm going you know pursuing my media career because I cannot wait to design video games and you know make people feel scared and happy and just it's I'm just really excited yeah I'm really scared I'm just really excited of what I have to do in my future.

ZS: What is you to-go sandwich and what does it represent to you in your life?
[00:00:06.14]
YM: My go- to sandwich would be toasted bread with mayonnaise and honey glazed turkey and muenster cheese spinach, tomato, avocado and some cucumber. This sandwich represents to me the freedom I have in my kitchen to make the kind of sandwich I wanna make without any interruptions because I have to say my kitchen is very small and it gets invaded pretty quickly by other family members. And my stepdad is one of those family members who is always in the kitchen and I can't get away from him from being in the kitchen because he's the one that cooks. My mom doesn't do so much of the cooking you know she does more of the chillaxing after the long day of work. But yeah it's very hard to make this very beautiful sandwich with him in the way because it's too awkward and I don't want to be there when he's there. So yeah it represents to me having the freedom and I really want that freedom. I actually wouldn't mind making a sandwich tonight if I could do that.
FILE 20
[00:00:01.11]
YM: The little things I appreciate in my life that I can see as freedom, the sandwich being one of them being able to do that whenever and wherever I want which I cannot do, which you've heard before. Being able to pick my major, which is obviously not a little thing to constitute as a freedom, it's not a little thing I see in my life to be you know very freedom like. It is a very big thing in my life, I have to consider because it's something that took me a lot of time to admit to my mom that I was changing my major from you know pre med to media and I was really scared. I remember sitting in the car with her, and I'm telling her "so ma what would happen if I decided not to take biology and physics this semester." and she was like "well I expect you to finish the pre med courses." and I was like " ah well what would you say if I dropped thoses courses." because at that point I already dropped those courses and I was already taking media and it was a very very horrifying car ride with her because I did not know how she was going to react but hopefully my little sister in the back would act as a mediator because it would be a peaceful car ride with no yelling. Regardless it was a very hard thing to tell her and I am really glad I did that because that makes me feel a little more closer to my dream you know and uhm that's one of the freedoms I'm really glad I have at this moment which i didn't have before. Another freedom, wait let me rephrase that. Another thing I am really happy I have in my life that represents my freedom is....

YM: The sandwich makes me feel delighted because when I come home from a really long day at school and I know exactly what I want to eat when I get home, its that sandwich and I make it and then I go to my room and put my headphones in got a good sandwich in front of me watch some netflix you know. Good quality stuff. Got my door closed so no one can bother me and I got to enjoy that sandwich as long as I can because I know in the next five minutes I'm going to get bombarded with some shit from my parents. So you know I got to eat that sandwich and enjoy myself.

[00:00:02.29]
ZS: What beverage do you like to eat your sandwich with? What beverage do you like to drink your sandwich with?
[00:00:07.25]
YM: The beverage I would prefer to have with my sandwich is probably a coca-cola. I'm not so sure if it's coke or pepsi, I don't really know which one is my favorite yet but it's probably coke. Sorry for all you pepsi fans ot there, sorry dad. But unfortunately I don't have soft drinks at home, all I have is water, so that's what I got to eat my sandwich with you know I got to drink some water, I don't have that many choices. That's what I gotta do.
FILE 25
[00:00:02.28]
ZS: Any snacks with your sandwich maybe like some chips or something?
[00:00:06.09]
YM: You know I wish I could have snacks, but I live in a household with organic mumbo jumbo and I don't have any chips at home so my moms allowed to chips but that's not allowed for me apparently so. We don't have any snacks at home so I just have to live with the air, that's my snack
[00:00:25.17]
ZS: Do you sometimes maybe shop for yourself or keep stuff in your room?
[00:00:31.13]
YM: i do not shop for myself as in I do not buy food when I'm hungry, like if I'm craving a chocolate bar, I'm not gonna go and buy a chocolate bar. Sad to say I am cheap, I like to save my money and I know I'm gonna regret buying that chocolate bar later. I gotta keep the extra few dollars for some reason I don't know what it is. Like I'll make plans to eat out if that's what you're asking but in general I'm not gonna go to Rite Aid and get myself whatever
[00:01:05.29]

[00:00:12.01]
YM: I feel very upset when I can't enjoy my sandwich but I just have to accept it the way it is because I live in a very loud household, very loud eight year old.
[00:00:28.13]
ZS: Does that make you wanna move out?
[00:00:31.19]
YM: It does make me wanna move out but on the other hand I like living at home because I have a nice bed and I'm afraid I won't have a very nice bed when I move out. And I like the home cooked meals.
[00:00:43.27]

YM: I can't take the bed with me, I just can't take it with me but I do think of moving out but I don't want to think about it just yet.

[00:01:19.08]
YM: Well I always think about moving out it's just making my sandwiches in peace without he crazy parents in the way and the little sister but I just love living at home as much as I get tired of my mom and my stepdad. it's just the comfort of home and Im gonna be really sad when I leave. its gonna suck but eventually I'm gonna have to but you know i just I can't I don't wanna think about it yet cause I know I don't have to so I guess I'm kind of putting it off in the back of the mind and dealing with the drama at home.
